Text(s)

  • W. Strauss: Partial Differential Equations. This will be our main text. We will cover the starred sections, with supplemental material provided in the lectures. After that, if time permits, we will cover selected topics from Chapters 7, 9, 13, 14.
  • L.C. Evans: Partial Differential Equations. The Evans textbook is aimed more at the graduate level. However, the presentation in the first few chapters is accessible to students with a strong background in calculus.
  • What other texts have you found useful in studying PDEs?

Homework Assignments

Homework assignments will be given during lecture and are to be handed in on Mondays at the beginning of class. Homework is an important part of the course and students should keep up with the work.
