The PDEwiki was created by James Colliander on 12 September 2006. A first goal was to provide a web resource for students studying basic partial differential equations in APM 346, a course in the mathematics department at the University of Toronto.

The DispersiveWiki partly inspired the PDEwiki. The PDEwiki now collects resources for various analysis and PDE related seminars at the University of Toronto and the Fields Institute. The wiki may soon merge with a larger wiki for the mathematics department.

Users who post content unrelated to the purpose of the PDEwiki will be banned by the WikiSysop.
